Cortana is Microsoft’s answer to its competitors’ digital assistant software, including Apple’s Siri and Google Now, which come bundled with iPhones and Android devices, respectively.

Blackberry and Good Technology Merger

BlackBerry and Good Technology announced a merger this week. BlackBerry is evolving into a software/services company and it has increasingly been fighting with Good Technology, which is in the same space. Between the companies, there is a lot of product overlap, but the resources both firms were spending on hurting the other were doing more damage than good to both. As a result, unlike most acquisitions, which try to correct a product line or services problem, this one is designed to eliminate painful competition for them both.



BlackBerry Evolved

Acquiring Good Technology enhances BlackBerry’s software status and, as noted, removes a distracting bit of competition. The end result will be stronger productivity, a greater management product portfolio, enhanced offensive and defensive patent protection in the space and a future example that the company is aggressively investing in software while it is pulling back from hardware. In short, this deal gives BlackBerry a steady platform from which to fight and a more robust set of messages to fight with.



BlackBerry Plus Good Technology

BlackBerry and Good Technology are attempting one of the easiest mergers to accomplish—competition elimination. But while this last is the easiest to execute on paper, because it is between two hostile entities, it is far harder to get done. The Oracle PeopleSoft acquisition showcased just how painful this can be. In the case of BlackBerry and Good Technology, though, it appears that both CEOs realized that the fight, should it continue, would make recovery far more difficult, and so both moved to do what is actually best for both firms in terms of pooling resources. What I find interesting here is that the CEOs from BlackBerry and Good Technology put aside their differences to do what was best for both firms. That doesn’t happen very often, which makes this move even more worth watching, because the customers, Good employees and investors will all get a lot better outcome than if either company had put up a fight.

Just last night I’ve got a push notification that a new software version is ready for download. So I go ahead and go the updating process. It take sometime to download the source file. It’s about 500Mb total of 2 parts download.

Blackberry to use Android OS?

I’ve come across to an article few months back and it says, Blackberry to use Android OS.

Not so sure about that, Blackberry OS I used and trust in the past for security (little fun, we’ll we’ve got that covered because Blackberry is for business minded people like you and me) and now they’re moving into Android?

I think they need to focus the strength of the Blackberry OS and security backbone so once again Blackberry will catch up the market and evolve.

Not to forget, a good API for Blackberry developers and supporters.

My Favorite Usable Blackberry Apps

Listed below are my favorite blackberry applications, this works on my blackberry 9860 with OS 7.1.  and it’s FREE!

1. Quick Restart
More than often you need to have your blackberry to restart, since the power off button just make your device into sleep but not restarting, this app is handy for that.

2. Advance OS and LED
This app have number of OS features you can use, just explore the app. One more plus feature is you can control the LED how it light up once bbm is received, from your emails down to your most favorite social app facebook, twitter

3. Crunch SMS
If you’re going for something like threaded conversation or simply just want different appearance of reading your sms, you may want to install this app

Which Blackberry have a Blackberry OS 10?

I’m so excited what are the new features in Blackberry 10 OS. I’m particular to know the strength of an OS specially those that can’t be found in other OS like Android, IOS, and Windows. So, I’m getting a new Z3 – wow! In fact, this is isn’t mine but my girlfriend give it to me as a gift, maybe because I’m already very noisy about it.. and wanted to have a touch of it very badly.

I love the phone so far, I’m getting all my emails and notifications of integrated apps in the blackberry hub. This is all-in-one display wherein everything I need to know can be easily accesses in the hub. As an explorer of things..and things, I like the button less feature like it feels my fingers flies across the screen, bottom-up, left-right, right to left, up-bottom, how’s that?! We’ll, drawback for me is that, there are few apps in the blackberry world, I miss my favorite apps in other mobile OS, but that’s fine, I still have them. What I want for blackberry is that, they need to have a very special, great app that could not be found in other OS and make this their very own. Not so much for the developers standpoint because multi-platform is making the app more sellable and useful.

So Blackberry, in behalf of blackberry fans, make this request happen.. a very special, great app that could not be found in other OS.

Blackberry phones to run android apps?

Yeah! Why not? I was so amazed that my preloved blackberry Z3 can run android apps!

How???

Pretty simple, there is amazon app built into the firmware of blackberry OS10. Go ahead and run that app, do a registration then there you go. You can then browse your favorite android app.

But.. unlike in Google store wherein thousands of apps there, in Amazon for blackberries there’s only few, that’s the downside though.
